THE CHALLENGE
Extending In-house Software Development Team to Build Sophiticated Components
Textmaster is a two-sided platform offering online translation services. On one side users submit documents to be translated from one language to another. On the other side is a pool of translators, who see these requests and bid for the job. After a translator won the bid, he/she will help the customer professionally translate, proofread, and copywrite the content.
The European startup wanted to expand their business to cover Youtube video subtitle translation service, and needed extra development workforce. They are looking for a technically-adept team who would develop this sophisticated components in 2 - 3 months and could talk to their backend services.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Building the Bridge with Multi-party APIs
Our client used Ruby on Rails for development internally. After they examined our experience and technically interviewed our development team, they chose us to be their vendors for developing these components. Within about seven weeks time, we studied their platform APIs and Youtube API; built a module that could retrieve all captions of a youtube video, import it onto TextMaster platform and create a "Project" where translators could bid on. When the project is finished, fee are charged from the project owner and pay out via Paypal to the translators. The translated text then get exported back on to the youtube video.
